Summer Art & Nature in the Park Series Wraps Up at The Downs Neighborhood Park

Fourth Plain Forward Program Manager Wil Fuentes serves community members BBQ burgers and potato salad.

Fourth Plain Forward has successfully concluded the 2024 summer Art & Nature in the Park series at The Downs Neighborhood Park. This exciting series, held on July 20th, August 10th, and August 24th, brought together community members for fun-filled days of art, nature exploration, and delicious food.

A big thank you to our sponsors—The City of Vancouver, NAACP-Vancouver Chapter, and Oasis Christian Church—for making this event possible. Several of our community partners, including Columbia Play Project, La Casita, the US Department of Fish and Wildlife, Vancouver Bee Project, and Ballet Folklorico, to name a few, offered a variety of activities for attendees. From arts and crafts to nature exploration, face painting, dancing, and more, there was something for everyone!

Food for all three events was generously sponsored by the City of Vancouver and the NAACP-Vancouver Branch. Together, we served over 500 sack lunches, BBQ burgers, and hot dogs, ensuring everyone enjoyed a delicious meal while spending time with their neighbors.

The highlight of our final event was Oasis Christian Church’s generous donation of 250 backpacks filled with school supplies, helping local students get ready for the new school year.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors, volunteers, and community members who made these events such a success. We’re already looking forward to next year’s series!
